Increase road quality by decreasing thermal segregation

The PAVE-IR™ Scan quality control system offers the possibility for recording the asphalt temperature during paving. It depicts a temperature profile for the entire project. Temperature differences that lead to thermal segregation of the material and, thus, to premature wear and tear of the road can therefore be determined during the job, resulting in countermeasures to be taken. This quality control system records the temperature data including GNSS position and weather data. The data can then be evaluated with the Pave Project Manager software. Areas with thermal segregation are detected and further analysed. Using this data, the system allows conclusions to be drawn about the quality of the asphalt, making possible improvements to the process, and the road quality.
